Barbera d' Alba

Barbera d' Alba

The Barbera wine comes from the area around the city of Alba. In this area two versions are produced, (normal) Barbera d' Alba and Barbera d' Alba Superiore.

While Barbera d' Alba does not need to be cellared long according to DOC regulations the Superiore version needs to age for at least 12 months in wooden barrels.

Barbera d' Alba (and Superiore) is made 100% from Barbera grapes.

Flavor-wise raspberries and violets can be detected as well as typical wood flavors from the Superiore version.

Barbera d' Alba (Superiore) has the DOC (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) classification, the second highest in Italy.
